Pique Assiette describes a method of mosaic making using broken crockery, beads, mirrors, shells and many other found items. The results are charming and a special object that has broken can be given a new lease of life.
Part one (Saturday 6th October) - Starting with a talk about materials and methods then moving onto design principles. We will be making one or more small mosaics on a shaped wooden base.
Part two (Saturday 13th October) - Working on last week's mosaics I will show you the two stage grouting and finishing process.
By the end of the day you should be well on the way to having one if not more beautiful mosaic panels to display in your home or give as gifts. Please note that there may be finishing off/grouting to do at home, due to drying time constraints of grout, paint and so on, but you will be shown how to do this, and given an instruction sheet to help you.
