Based in Sudbury, Suffolk, Simply Handmade is a small, friendly team of people who are deeply passionate about what we do.  We take pride in the details, and in offering a personal, bespoke service to our customers.

After a demanding career in finance, I decided I’d had enough of the corporate world and chose to follow my passion – needlework.  I have been sewing and seamstressing all my life, it’s a lifelong passion, and so I figured why not do what I love for a living?  The result is I'm loving every moment of this exciting new journey; it's completely changed my life for the better.

Known for my smile and cheekiness in life, I have showcased and sold my own handmade wares in no less than 14 UK counties.  I have a wealth of knowledge and now help fellow artisans in all things crafty be it from helping them design new products or to think creatively outside the box.

Although originally a trained pastry chef in France, I didn’t like the constant pressure and rushing around. I’ve always sewn and love being creative, and the chance to join the Simply team was simply too good to miss. I even now make the complimentary homemade cakes for the workshops.  You never know what the day will bring!

After studying Performance Sportswear Design at Falmouth University, my passion for sewing just grew and grew.  After designing and making bespoke pieces for people I knew I would love "Simply Handmade" and working in a team of seamstresses enjoying the same things out of life.  I am increasingly learning so much more about fabrics and how clothes are constructed and loving every minute of it.

Meet the latest member of our team, our miniature dachshund who naturally is called "Simply".  She was born on the 1st of July 2018 so she is a bit young for slave labour really!  Here she is getting to grips with one of the machines but we think she is more destined for a front of house role meeting and greeting the customers.  She might even make a guest appearance on your next visit to us.

Why are we “not on the high street”?

The costs associated with a high-street location mean we would have to charge more for our products and services, and we feel that everybody should be able to treat themselves to beautiful things, not just those with deep pockets.  Besides we have ample free parking right outside our door and we are easy to find behind B&Q in Sudbury, Suffolk.
